Two cult beauty brands arrive in store in time for autumn: Augustinus Bader and Westman Atelier.
In fashion, furniture, art, design and now beauty, the Alex Eagle ethos is all about finding the perfect version of an object and installing it in your life forever.
“It’s about less is more,” she says. “I’m not interested in having a whole range of beauty in my shops. What I offer is a pared back edit of products that really work.”
One new arrival is Westman Atelier, the cosmetic line from famed American make-up artist Gucci Westman. Known for her work with Grace Coddington at Vogue, on films with David Lynch and as the former artistic director of both Lancome and Revlon, Westman launched her own line in 2018 to immediate acclaim.
The selection at Alex Eagle Studio – which is the first UK brick and mortar store to stock the brand – includes foundation sticks, blushers, bronzers and highlighters, as well as Westman’s signature brushes. The range is made even more desirable by its sculptural packaging, complete with slick magnetic lids.
“It’s foolproof,” says Eagle. “Gucci has put her incredible experience into a small line of beautiful products that really work. They are super easy to use, they feel so nourishing, and they look beautiful both on your skin and as items in your handbag.”
The second line are two cult creams from the lab of world-renowned stem cell scientist, Augustinus Bader. The Cream and The Rich Cream use a complex blend of science and botanicals to hydrate the skin, fight signs of ageing and create a youthful, healthy glow.
“I discovered them through the facialist Joanna Czech,” says Eagle, “and they are just brilliant. They are universal, two creams that works for everyone – my mum uses them, so does my stepdaughter and I’m obsessed. The minute you put them on, your skin feels amazing.“
For Eagle, what is exciting is knowing that she’s selling beauty products that really work. “Seeking out the best products, doing an edit of the things we love and then offering them in store is one of my favourite parts of the job. These products make your life easier, they really work, they easily fit into your daily routine, and soon you won’t know what you did without them.”
